Today, we held
the second of six outdoor training sessions at a local soccer field with
coaches and volunteers from youth football academies around Kumba. We trained
them in one new ice-breaking activity, as well as five new football drills that
they can take back to their respective academies and use with their youth
players. As usual, the drills are designed in such a way that they not only
teach technical skills, but also have an underlying message pertaining to
various life skills topics, such as the importance of clear communication,
using teamwork to resolve conflicts, diversifying your skills set, persevering
to overcome obstacles, etc. There were nearly 30 people in attendance. The
training lasted from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. Overall, it was a success.
